Cedar & Shadow - Takapuna powder room renovation
This Takapuna powder room was designed as a dramatic finishing touch to a beautifully renovated home. Reworking the existing space, the brief was to create a dark and moody guest bathroom with warmth, texture and a strong sense of atmosphere. The result is a richly layered room where contrasting materials and carefully considered lighting bring depth and refinement.

A complete remodel of the existing powder room, including new finishes, vanity design, lighting and material detailing.
DESIGN CHALLENGE:
Creating a compact guest powder room that felt bold and impactful, while balancing the darker palette with enough warmth, texture and light to keep the space inviting.
DESIGN RESPONSE:
Contrasting dark and light tiles were paired with a generous vanity and basin to give the room presence and practicality. Repurposed cedar battens, installed by the owner-builder, introduce warmth and character, while brushed brass accents and LED backlighting soften the mood and add a refined layer of detail.
